National Parks

Bosnia and Herzegovina has two national parks, Sutjeska and Kozara.

There are plans in operation to enlarge existing protected areas of these parks and add the areas of Bjelasnica/Igman mountain and Prenj-Cvrsnica-Cabulja region, locally known as the Herzegovina Himalayas. Hutovo Blato Bird Reserve, just north of Neum and Blidinje Nature Park, west of Jablanica also enjoy protection status.
