The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) has agreed on a loan package to Bosnia Herzegovina for the reconstruction and modernisation of the main road network in the Federation of Bosnia Herzegovina and the Republic of Srpska.
A project worth EUR 75 million is intended to finance works for the construction and modernisation of the main road network, including 454 kilometres in Bosnia Herzegovina and 394 kilometres in the Republic of Srpska, consultancy for the planning and completion of a performance-based maintenance contract for certain stretches of the road system, and for the development of a business plan for a Financial Management Information System.
The funds are also expected to be used to buy telecommunications instruments (both hardware and software programmes) and for a weather information system which would report meteorological conditions across the Republic of Srpska road network.
