Project “Wine Routes of Herzegovina ” completed

Head of the Delegation of European Commission in Bosnia and Herzegovina , Dimitris Kourkoulas, Federal minister of environment and tourism, Nevenko Herceg, and president of the Tourist Board of the Herzegovina-Neretva Canton, Samir Sunagic, marked today at the ceremony in Mostar completion of the “Wine Routes of Herzegovina” project.

In his statement for journalists minister Herceg pointed out that the project has a great importance in development of wine industry, as one of the important branches of economy, as well as a great importance for the development of tourism in Herzegovina and the whole country.
Ambassador Kourkoulas pointed out that he is satisfied with the implementation of the project “Wine Routes of Herzegovina” in which European Commission invested 200,000 Euros.
President of the Tourist Board of the Herzegovina Neretva Canton, Samir Sunagic, expressed his thanks for the support offered by the European Commission in the course of the implementation of the project.
“This is the second project, after the vertical tourist signalization which gave a great contribution to the development of tourism in the region of Herzegovina-Neretva Canton as a serious economic branch”, Sunagic said.
After the ceremony, the delegation of the European Commission, representatives of the Federal Government, Tourist Board of HNC, and representatives of vintners in HNC made tour of the vineyards in the village of Blizanci near Citluk, Sivric wine boutique, and Hercegovina Produkt Company.  
The project “Wine Routes of Herzegovina” was launched in December 2005 by Tourist Board of HNC and the Association of Wine Producers of Herzegovina. It is worth 225,359 Euros, of which European Union provided 200,000 Euros.
Tourist offer of the “Wine Routes”, apart from visits to wineries, includes visits to all attractive tourist destinations in Bosnia and Herzegovina , and through the mentioned project tourists are informed on the autochthonous wines “Zilavka” and “Blatina”, as well as on the historical and cultural heritage in Herzegovina.
The project included making of market analysis and market concept of the “Wine Routes of Herzegovina”, analysis of environment and potential participants in the program, designing of the website and wine list of Herzegovina as well as mounting of signpost for the wine cellars which are in the program of the “Wine Routes”.
