The master plan, the realization of which is yet to come, is based on the concept of environmentally sustainable and economically justified development of the Jahorina region, and includes the construction of infrastructure objects, with the aim of promoting Jahorina as the largest and the most attractive winter tourism centre in Southeast Europe.

Jahorina, which hosted the women's alpine events during the 1984 Winter Olympics, is also a candidate for the 2018 Winter Olympic Games. The ski resort is only half an hour away from the Sarajevo city centre.
